LEGACY VAULT™ TERMS

Last updated: October 2026

These terms are short on purpose. They explain what the Legacy Vault™ is, what you can expect from us, what we ask of you, and what happens if anything changes. If anything is unclear, ask us.

1. What the Legacy Vault™ is

1.1 The Legacy Vault™ is a private digital archive that belongs to your diamond. It holds the diamond’s verified provenance, the design records of any setting, and the photographs, films, voice notes, letters and milestones that you and the people you invite choose to add.

1.2 Every diamond chosen through De Vere Diamonds receives its own Vault, at no charge. We create Vaults only for diamonds we have verified ourselves.

1.3 It is not a valuation, an insurance record or a legal register of ownership. It is not a place for identity documents, financial records or passwords.

2. Your diamond and its Vault

2.1 The Vault is opened when your diamond is chosen. It is linked to the diamond by its GIA grading report and by a unique Vault code, laser-inscribed on the girdle.

2.2 The Vault belongs to the diamond, not to its setting. If the diamond is reset or remodelled, the Vault goes with it, and the new setting becomes a new chapter.

2.3 For a piece with a centre diamond, the Vault follows that diamond. For earrings, bracelets, necklaces and suites, it belongs to the piece as a whole.

2.4 We recommend that any resetting is done through us, so that the diamond’s identity is verified and its record continues unbroken. If the work is done elsewhere, we may need to verify the diamond again before adding to its record.

3. What we will do

3.1 Create your Vault and fill it with the diamond’s grading report, origin and traceability record, and with the design, making and hallmarking records of any setting.

3.2 Give you private access, and show you how to use it.

3.3 Add a record of any later work we carry out on the diamond or its setting.

3.4 Keep your Vault available, secure and backed up for as long as you wish to keep it. There is no time limit and no charge.

3.5 Anchor the diamond’s provenance record on Arweave, a permanent public storage network, so that it survives any change to De Vere Diamonds or to our technology. That record contains no personal information.

4. What we will never do

We want to be explicit about this, because it matters.

  • We will never use what is in your Vault for marketing, advertising or any other commercial purpose.

  • We will never sell or share it with anyone for their own use.

  • We will never use your photographs, films, voice notes or words in a case study or promotion without your written permission.

  • We will never analyse what is in your Vault to draw conclusions about you.

What you add to your Vault belongs to you.

5. What you can do

  • Add photographs, films, voice notes, letters and milestones whenever you choose.

  • Invite family and friends to view your Vault or to add to it, and remove their access at any time.

  • Mark any entry private.

  • Download a complete copy of your Vault at any time, in formats that open on any standard device.

  • Ask us to correct anything in the record we compiled.

  • Ask us to close your Vault and delete what you have added. We will do so within 30 days and confirm in writing. The diamond’s provenance record stays with the diamond.

6. Passing it on

6.1 When the diamond is given, sold or inherited, its Vault passes with it. The provenance record always stays with the diamond.

6.2 At the point of transfer, privacy settings are fixed. Entries marked private are not shown to the new owner, who begins a chapter of their own.

6.3 First Dawn™. The adult who commissions a First Dawn™ diamond holds its Vault for the child. At the Stewardship Transfer, at 18 or 21 as you choose, the diamond and its Vault pass formally to the child.

6.4 You can tell us who should receive the Vault after your death. If you have not, we will act on the instructions of your executors or personal representatives, once we have seen proof of their authority.

6.5 We will ask for reasonable proof of identity and of entitlement before we transfer a Vault or restore access to one.

7. What we ask of you

  • Keep your access details private.

  • Add only what is yours to add. Please include other people’s photographs and words only where they would be happy for you to.

  • Add nothing unlawful. We may remove content if we learn that it is.

  • Keep sensitive documents elsewhere. The Vault is for provenance and memories.

  • Keep your own copy of anything you could not bear to lose.

  • Tell us if your contact details change, so that we can reach you about your Vault.

8. If things change

8.1 If we change these terms, we will tell you directly, explain why, and give you at least 30 days’ notice.

8.2 If De Vere Diamonds is sold, closes or changes in any significant way, we will give you at least 90 days’ notice and the chance to download everything in your Vault. Our Permanence Statement sets this out in full.

8.3 Technology will change. We will move your Vault to new technology as needed, so that what it holds stays accessible.

9. Our responsibility

9.1 We take reasonable care to keep your Vault secure, accessible and backed up. If you lose access because of something within our control, we will restore it promptly and keep you informed.

9.2 We are responsible for the record we compile and for running the Vault. We are not responsible for the accuracy of what you or your guests add.

9.3 Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights or any liability that cannot legally be limited.

10. Law, privacy and questions

10.1 These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings there, and if you live in another country you keep any mandatory protection its law gives you.

10.2 The Legacy Vault™ Privacy Notice explains how we handle what your Vault holds. Our Complaints & ADR Policy explains what to do if something goes wrong.

10.3 Questions: legacyvault@deverediamonds.com.

Your Vault is yours. We are simply its custodians.
