We begin with a conversation about your family and the child you are waiting for. We then present a small selection of exceptional natural diamonds, each chosen for its beauty and its truth. You choose the one that will be theirs.
Once you have chosen their diamond, we will ask whether you would like it set into a bespoke piece to be worn in the meantime, or kept unset until they decide. There is no need to choose straight away. The offer to set it never expires.
A First Dawn can be commissioned before the birth, so the diamond is ready on the day it matters.
WORN WITH LOVE, UNTIL IT’S THEIRS
Many families choose to set their First Dawn diamond as a pendant, worn by a mother or grandmother through the early years of a child’s life. It is there at every birthday and every milestone, close to the people who love them most.
Then, when the time comes, it is handed on. Warm from years of wear, carrying a story they have lived inside, the diamond becomes theirs to keep as it is, or to reshape into something new.
Wherever it goes, its Legacy Vault™ goes with it.
EVERY FIRST DAWN INCLUDES
The diamond: a natural round brilliant diamond, 0.50ct to 2.00ct, presented unset in a De Vere Diamonds ‘First Dawn’ heirloom box. Other shapes are available by consultation.
Certification: GIA Diamond Origin Report.
Provenance: Botswana, Canada or Namibia, traceable from source.
Identity: a laser inscription and verified digital record, unique to the stone.
The Legacy Vault™: opened in the diamond’s name, from before birth if you wish.
If you choose to set it: a bespoke pendant in Fairtrade or Fairmined certified yellow gold, white gold or platinum, in a rubover or claw setting, designed so the diamond can later be removed cleanly and reset.

BEFORE BIRTH: THE VAULT OPENS
The diamond is chosen. Letters are written, scans are saved, and its commissioning record is placed in the Vault.

THE EARLY YEARS: EVERY ORDINARY MIRACLE
First words, first steps, drawings and favourite books. If the diamond is worn by a mother or grandmother, it appears in the photographs of every birthday.

18 OR 21: THE DIAMOND BECOMES THEIRS
The Stewardship Transfer. The diamond is placed in their hands, from its heirloom box or unclasped from the pendant that was worn for them, together with its Vault.
ADULT LIFE: THEY BECOME THE AUTHOR
University, work, love. Perhaps the diamond becomes a ring, a signet or a pendant of their own, or stays exactly as it was given. The Vault grows under their authorship.
WHEN THE TIME COMES: PASSED ON, CARRYING EVERYTHING
The diamond passes to the next generation, with a documented life inside it.
THE STEWARDSHIP TRANSFER
At 18 or 21, the diamond, its provenance and its Legacy Vault™ pass formally into your child’s hands.
The transfer includes a letter from the house, a ceremony document and, if you wish, a private appointment. Inside the Vault: every letter, every video, every photograph, every message.
What began as your gift becomes their inheritance, and theirs to pass on.
