WHAT IS IT?
WHAT IS THE LEGACY VAULT™?
A private digital archive that belongs to your diamond. It holds the diamond’s verified provenance (its grading report, origin and journey) alongside the design records of its setting, and the photographs, videos, voice notes, letters and milestones that give it meaning.
WHY DID DE VERE DIAMONDS CREATE IT?
Because jewellery often outlives the stories behind it. A certificate can tell you what a diamond is. It cannot tell you who chose it, why, or what it witnessed. The Legacy Vault™ was created so those answers do not have to disappear.
HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM A DIAMOND CERTIFICATE?
A certificate is a single document, fixed on the day it is issued. The Legacy Vault™ holds that certificate, and grows for generations: milestones, photographs, messages and the story of every setting the diamond has worn.
WHY IS IT CALLED THE LEGACY VAULT™?
Because its purpose is to preserve what matters most across generations: the diamond’s identity and provenance, and the story of the people it belonged to.
YOUR DIAMOND AND ITS VAULT
HOW IS THE DIAMOND CONNECTED TO ITS VAULT?
Each diamond is identified by its GIA grading report and a unique Legacy Vault code, laser-inscribed microscopically on its girdle. It is invisible to the eye but readable under magnification. Its digital traceability record completes its identity. The Vault is bound to the diamond itself.
WHY IS THE VAULT TIED TO THE DIAMOND AND NOT THE JEWELLERY?
Because jewellery changes. Rings are remodelled, pendants become rings, settings are upgraded. The diamond remains, so its story stays with it, whatever form it takes.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY DIAMOND IS RESET OR REMODELLED?
Its Vault goes with it, and the new setting becomes a new chapter, with its design records added. We recommend any resetting is done through De Vere Diamonds, so the diamond’s identity is verified and its record continues unbroken.
WHAT ABOUT PIECES WITH MORE THAN ONE DIAMOND?
A single diamond: the Vault belongs to that diamond.
Three-stone and centre-stone pieces: the Vault follows the centre diamond.
Earrings, bracelets, necklaces and suites: the Vault belongs to the piece as a whole, holding the provenance of every diamond, its design history and its story.
DOES AN UNSET DIAMOND HAVE A VAULT?
Yes. A diamond presented unset in its heirloom box receives its Legacy Vault™ from the day it is chosen. If it is set later, that simply becomes its next chapter.
IS THE VAULT ONLY FOR ENGAGEMENT RINGS?
No. Every diamond chosen through De Vere Diamonds receives its own Legacy Vault™, whether it becomes an engagement ring, a pendant, earrings or a bracelet, is kept unset, or is a First Dawn™ diamond given at birth.
CAN I ADD A DIAMOND I ALREADY OWN?
The Legacy Vault™ is created only for diamonds chosen through De Vere Diamonds. Every Vault begins with a diamond whose identity and provenance we have verified ourselves, from its grading report to its laser inscription, and that is what allows us to stand behind its record for generations. If you have a diamond you would like to have set, we would be happy to talk with you about designing a new piece around it.

CAN I ADD TO IT OVER TIME?
Yes. The Vault is designed to grow alongside the diamond’s story, for as long as it is owned.
CAN FAMILY MEMBERS CONTRIBUTE?
Yes, if you invite them. A grandparent can add a message, a partner can add a memory, and future owners can add chapters of their own.
FIRST DAWN™ AND FUTURE GENERATIONS
HOW DOES THE VAULT WORK FOR FIRST DAWN™?
The Vault can open before a child is born, holding scans, letters and the first photographs, and grows throughout their childhood. First Dawn™ Vaults are private by default.
WHAT IS THE STEWARDSHIP TRANSFER?
At 18 or 21, a First Dawn™ diamond and its Vault pass formally into the child’s hands, with a letter from the house, and a ceremony document. From then on, the Vault is theirs.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A DIAMOND IS INHERITED?
The diamond and its Vault pass to the next owner together. At the point of transfer, privacy settings are fixed, so private entries stay private and the new owner begins their own chapter.
PRIVACY AND SECURITY
WHO OWNS THE VAULT?
You do, as the diamond’s owner. You decide what is kept, who may see it, and when it passes on.
IS THE VAULT PUBLIC?
No. Everything is private unless you choose to share it. Nothing in your Vault is ever used for marketing.
IS MY INFORMATION SECURE?
Yes. Access is protected by authentication and encryption, and we are committed to long-term security, privacy protection and controlled access as technology evolves.
WHAT IF I LOSE ACCESS?
We will help you recover it, after appropriate identity checks that protect your privacy.
PROVENANCE AND TRUST
WHY DOES PROVENANCE MATTER SO MUCH TO DE VERE DIAMONDS?
Because we believe a symbol of love should carry no doubt. Knowing where a diamond came from, and being able to prove it, is part of what makes it worth handing down.
DOES THE VAULT PROVE A DIAMOND WAS RESPONSIBLY SOURCED?
It holds the independent records that support its sourcing: its GIA Diamond Origin Report, its traceability record, and the certifications of the partners who handled it. We are careful not to overstate it. No supply chain system can offer absolute certainty, but every record we hold is shown to you, in full.
THE FUTURE
IS THE LEGACY VAULT™ INTENDED TO LAST INDEFINITELY?
That is our intention, and our commitment is set out in writing in our Permanence Statement. No technology can honestly promise permanence forever, which is why the Legacy Vault™ is built with continuity and portability in mind.
WHAT HAPPENS IF TECHNOLOGY CHANGES?
The Vault is designed to evolve alongside it, so that its contents remain accessible and usable for future generations.
IS THERE A CHARGE?
No. The Legacy Vault™ is included with every De Vere diamond.
