LEGACY VAULT™ PERMANENCE STATEMENT

A PERSONAL STATEMENT ON THE PERMANENCE OF YOUR LEGACY VAULT™

Dear client,

Jewellery often outlives the stories behind it. I created the Legacy Vault™ so that yours would not.

That is a promise that may need to hold for longer than any of us will be here to see. You deserve more than an assurance. You deserve to know, in plain terms, what would happen to your Vault if our circumstances ever changed.

No technology can honestly promise to last forever. What I can tell you is how the Vault is built, and exactly what we will do. I sign this personally, because accountability for it should rest with a person and not with a policy.

What protects your Vault today

Your diamond’s record stands on its own. The provenance record of your diamond is anchored on Arweave, a permanent public storage network. It is not held only on our servers, and nobody, including us, can alter or delete it. It contains nothing personal about you.

You can take a copy at any time. Everything in your Vault can be downloaded in standard formats that open on any device. You do not need us in order to do it. I encourage you to take a copy once a year, and whenever you add something that matters.

What you add is yours. Nothing you place in your Vault belongs to De Vere Diamonds.

What would happen if…

…De Vere Diamonds were sold. Your Vault, and every commitment in this statement, would form part of the sale. We would write to you personally at least 90 days before completion to tell you who the new owner is and what, if anything, would change. We would make it a condition of any sale that the buyer honours these commitments in full. If you were not content, you could download everything and close your Vault.

…De Vere Diamonds closed. We would write to you personally, with at least 90 days’ notice, as soon as the decision was made. The Vault would stay open throughout that period, and we would send you clear instructions for downloading it. We would appoint an independent custodian, a solicitor or professional trustee, to oversee the process, and give you their name and contact details.

…the technology changed. It will. We would tell you before any significant change. We would move every Vault to the new platform, completely and accurately, before the old one was retired, and you would be able to download yours first.

…you wanted to leave. You are never locked in, and you need no reason. You can download everything at any time. If you ask us to close your Vault, we will do so within 30 days and confirm in writing. We will never make leaving slow, difficult or conditional.

Our commitments, plainly stated

  1. We will give you at least 90 days’ personal notice of any sale, closure or significant change that affects your Vault.

  2. We will keep your Vault open for the whole of that period.

  3. We will appoint a named, independent custodian to oversee any wind-down, and tell you how to reach them.

  4. We will keep downloading your Vault simple and free, always.

  5. We will require any buyer of De Vere Diamonds to honour these commitments in full.

  6. We will anchor your diamond’s provenance record where no change to our business or our technology can remove it.

  7. We will write to you once a year to confirm that your Vault is intact, accessible and backed up.

A final word

A statement like this is only as good as the person who signs it. I know that.

The Legacy Vault™ exists because I believe a diamond chosen for someone deserves to have its story kept. If you have a question about anything here, please write to me directly.
