THE STORY BEHIND DE VERE DIAMONDS
A PIECE OF JEWELLERY CAN CARRY FAR MORE THAN A DIAMOND.
It can mark a proposal, a marriage, the birth of a child, an anniversary, or a moment known only to two people.
Years later, it may pass to a daughter, a son, a grandchild or someone not yet born.
The jewellery may survive for generations.
But the story behind it can disappear surprisingly quickly.
That thought sits at the heart of De Vere Diamonds.
We believe that if a piece of jewellery is created to represent something as important as love, commitment or family, there should be as little uncertainty around it as possible.
You should know what you are buying.
You should know what your diamond is.
You should know where it came from.
And one day, the person who inherits it should be able to know why it mattered.
We believe a symbol of love should carry no doubt.
THE IDEA BEGAN WITH SOMETHING VERY PERSONAL.
Many years ago, I came across pieces of jewellery that had belonged to my late mother.
They were not important because of their financial value.
They were important because they belonged to her.
They represented another time, another life, and people who were no longer there to explain the stories behind them.
Later in my own life, I lost virtually everything I owned.
Possessions can disappear. Photographs can disappear. Letters can disappear. The small things we assume will always be there sometimes aren’t.
That experience changed the way I thought about jewellery.
A diamond can endure for billions of years.
A piece of jewellery can survive for centuries.
But the human story attached to it can be lost within a generation.
I began to wonder whether we could preserve both.
NOTHING TRUER THAN TRUTH.
The De Vere family motto is:
Nothing Truer Than Truth.
For De Vere Diamonds, those words became a principle.
The natural diamond industry asks people to place a great deal of trust in what they are being told.
Where did the diamond come from?
Is it natural?
Was it responsibly sourced?
Who certified it?
Who handled it?
What journey did it take before becoming part of this piece of jewellery?
We believe those questions deserve proper answers.
That is why De Vere Diamonds is built around natural diamonds, independent certification, responsible sourcing, provenance and verification wherever it is possible to provide it.
Not because documentation is romantic.
But because trust is.
There should never have to be a question mark behind something intended to represent one of the most important moments of someone’s life.
AND THEN CAME THE LEGACY VAULT™ BY DE VERE DIAMONDS.
Provenance answered one part of the question.
But there was another.
Even if we could preserve the story of the diamond, how could we preserve the story of the people?
That became The Legacy Vault™ by De Vere Diamonds..
Every De Vere Diamonds commission can have a private digital place where the story surrounding the jewellery can live alongside its provenance.
Its certificates.
Its origins.
Its design.
Its photographs.
And, if the client wishes, something far more personal.
A message.
A voice.
A video.
A photograph.
A few words explaining why the jewellery was chosen and who it was meant for.
Things that may mean very little to the rest of the world, but everything to one family.
Because one day someone may hold that piece of jewellery and wonder:
Who chose this?
Who wore it?
Why did it matter?
The Legacy Vault was created so that, where possible, those answers do not have to disappear.
JEWELLERY SHOULD OUTLIVE THE MOMENT.
We do not want to create jewellery simply for the day it is presented.
We want to think about the day many years later when somebody else opens the box.
Perhaps a daughter.
Perhaps a grandson.
Perhaps someone the original owner never had the chance to meet.
They may inherit the diamond.
But we would like them to inherit the story as well.
That is what I hope De Vere Diamonds can contribute.
Not simply beautiful jewellery.
Not simply traceable diamonds.
But pieces whose meaning remains attached to them long after the original moment has passed.
Because luxury, to me, is not simply owning something valuable.
It is knowing why it is valuable to you.
And ensuring that one day, someone else can know too.
