There wasn’t a birthday.

There wasn’t an anniversary.

I commissioned my bracelet because I’d come through one of the hardest periods of my life and I wanted to mark the fact that I was still standing.

At first I felt slightly self-conscious explaining that. Jewellery is usually associated with someone giving something to somebody else.

This was from me, to me.

There was absolutely no judgement from De Vere Diamonds.

We talked about what I wanted and, perhaps more importantly, why I wanted it.

I didn’t want anything ostentatious. I wanted something beautifully made, containing natural diamonds, that I could wear almost every day.

We created a bracelet that was exactly that.

When the Legacy Vault was explained to me, I realised I could record the part nobody looking at the bracelet would ever know.

I wrote about what those previous few years had been like and what I’d learned from them.

I also wrote something to my future self.

If this bracelet eventually goes to my daughter, she may discover parts of my story that I never found an appropriate moment to tell her.

That’s quite a thought.

People will see a beautiful diamond bracelet.

I’ll always see something else.

I’ll know what it represents.
